Hey guys! Well, we leave for Southern Sudan in just a week (Monday, June 11). Shelly and I signed up for the mission trip about six months ago, and it's hard to believe it's here already. After signing up to go back in December, I remember walking out of there thinking, "What in the world have we just done?" The trip was pricey, and it was certainly way out of our comfort zone.
In the last few months, we've witnessed God do absolutely amazing things. His hand of blessing was certainly upon our fundraising. He used so many faithful people along the way to help us raise almost $8,000 for this trip. Some of the money came from unexpected places. God likes to surprise us, for sure! We have also had many people praying for us and for the people in Sudan, and we cannot thank you guys enough! We can never underestimate the power of prayer. Apart from Christ's strength, this trip might as well be a "mosquito expedition!"
Our faith has been put to the test, as Satan has thrown some roadblocks in our way. Many times, I have allowed him to discourage me over things like money, safety concerns in the war-torn country, failure, you name it. He's thrown them all at me. But God has said He will never leave us. And He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world!
During the trip, we will be working to help strengthen some relatively new churches through discipleship, doing lots of evangelism, some bible school teaching, serving in orphanages, etc. We are excited and humbled as well to have the privilege to share the good news of Jesus Christ to the wonderful people in Sudan.
Please continue to pray that God would go before us and prepare the hearts of those we'll be ministering to for the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ.
Thanks again to my beautiful wife Shelly for your love, encouragement and faithfulness. Wherever God leads us to serve, there is no one else I'd rather have as a partner in ministry.
Looking forward to sharing with you all about the trip when we return.
In His mighty name,
Jeremy
